In 1887 they were living at 60 Plough Road, Rotherhithe, London, and in 1891 they moved across the road to 57 Plough Road.|

Thomas Simmons Squire Born: 4-Mar-1836 Died: Father: William James Squire Mother: Elizabeth de Ruyter Occupation: When Thomas was 17 years old, on 13 October 1853, he started an apprentice as a Waterman to Frederick Frances White. This profession is a person licenced to work on the Thames and plies for hire on the river as a wherryman. He was freed as a licenced Waterman on 12 February 1861. In 1866 he became master to his brother-in-law David Sime who then started as apprentice. In 1874 Thomas was a Lighterman, unloading ships with a lighter (a flat bottomed boat used for loading and unloading ships not brought to wharf). In 1887 he was a River Pilot, and in 1891 a Seas and River Pilot. Thomas was born in Poplar (All Saints Church) in London. |
