John Elvy and Sarah Bensted

John and Sarah married in the Parish Church of Eastling in the same year as John's twin sister Mary. They had ten children.

Occupation: John was a Commercial Traveller, a tea dealer, and a Master Tailor.  In 1881 he was a Traveller in beers, wines and spirits.  For some time he was also a cigar merchant with "Mullet & Elvy" at 4 Catherine Street, Seething Lane, London EC.
John Elvy had a twin sister Mary.  They were born less than a month after the funeral of their father.

John moved several times.  At the census of 1841 he lived in Newnam.  At the vensus of 1851 he lived in Milton, next to Gravesend, as a Grocer's assistant.  In 1861 he lived at 9 Pleasant Cottages in Hackney.  In 1863 he lived in Kingsland, Middlesex.  In 1865 he was back in Hackney.  In 1872 he had moved to Stoke Newigton in Middlesex.  By 1881 he was back in Hackney, at 82 Shacklewell Lane, St. John's Parish.  In 1885 he lived at 244 Amhurst Road and in 1898 at 8 Mount Pleasant Lane, Upper Clapton.

Charles Elvy was born at 9 Pleasant Cottages, Hackney.  He and his wife Barbara first lived at 3 Boscombe Villas, Thornhill Road, Leyton, then in 1885 at 3 Amhurst Road in Leyton.  In 1893/4 they lived at 111 Downs Road and later at 125 Maynards Road, Walthamstow.

Arthur was born at 3 Amberley Cottages, Rendlesham Road, Hackney, London.  In 1898 when his father died, Arthur lived at 8 Mount Pleasant Lane, Upper Clapton, London.  He and his family also lived at St. Ives, Southsea Avenue, Leigh in Essex, and also at 39 Lausanne Road, Hornsey.

Occupation: Frank Thomson was a tailor but later gave his tailor business in Hornsey to his younger brother Alexander Edmund.  This business may have been called "Magneta Wear" at 8 Mount Pleasant Lane  (1889-1893).
Frank was born a 3 Amberley Cottages in Hackney, London.  When married, he lived at 95 Gloucester Road, Regent's Park, London.
